Financial Support has Given Scholarship Recipient Hope
My name is Amor Silva, I am 25 years old and originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I moved to Columbus, Nebraska to further my education. I have been attending Central Community College for two years and I am an Academic Transfer student. I will transfer to Wayne State College in May of 2010 to continue my education to receive my Bachelor of Science Degree. My primary studies are Accounting and Financing. I moved here with my brother and he has provided my living expenses, but it was up to me to pay for my tuition for college.
My concern when returning to college was taking out student loans. Becoming a recipient of scholarships has been a way to ease this concern. Scholarships have helped me become a hard working student. Scholarships help me financially and I am able to concentrate more on my studies instead of how to finance my education.
Scholarships have helped me believe in myself. Before coming to Nebraska, I never believed I had the intelligence to further my education. Scholarships have not only helped me financially, but have created a higher level of maturity and have given me a deeper belief within myself. This has pushed me to show my true potential and acquire the skills necessary to continue my quest for a higher education.
